Welcome
Welcome to the Issaquah PTSA Council.
We have over 14,200 paid members, which means that over 93% of students
in ISD are covered by a PTA member. With just shy of 150,000 members in the entire state, Issaquah’s membership
equals about 9% of the total number of PTA members.
Only 25 individual PTAs in the State achieved the 100% Membership award,
a goal for all PTAs. 11 of these
came from Issaquah!
A Standards of Excellence award is given to recognize best practices in
local units that set goals, communicate, serve members, train leaders, show
fiscal responsibility and volunteer recognition. You may remember that it was a goal for this year that all
of our local units apply for this award. Only 39 PTA units across the state were recognized with a Standards of
Excellence Award; 20 were from Issaquah!
The State also recognizes Honor Units achieving standards-plus, with
proof of child-focused activities, involvement state and local levels and
responsiveness to membership needs. The following units received Honor Unit awards; Issaquah High, Grand Ridge, Sunset,
Pine Lake, Briarwood and Endeavour.
Grand Ridge Elementary took 3rd place in the category of PTAs
Taking Significant Action for their Kinderconnect Programs. Four schools received communications
awards; Briarwood won 1st place in their newsletter category with
Sunset right behind them in 2nd place. Beaver Lake Middle took 2nd place in their
newsletter category for secondary schools. Grand Ridge also received 3rd place recognition
for their email communication.
In addition to all of these awards, the State recognized one unit that
stands above all others in their service to students and community through
their programs and services. This
year there were 22 notebooks submitted and Issaquah High PTSA was selected for
this great honor. They will be
representing Washington State at the National PTA Convention in June in San
Diego.
Individual honors were also awarded at our State Convention and Issaquah
was amazingly well represented at the state level as well. Crystal Level Leadership Academy awards
were given to Marianne Kersten, Deborah Parsons and Suzanne Weaver. The Outstanding Advocate Award was
presented to Kelly Munn.
