- Please support our scholarship basket by bringing a gift card to a store we like to shop in that will ensure our “Inspire~ Connect~ Engage pot plant of gift cards” will be the best of the bunch. I will be collecting them at next month’s meeting. (Suggested amount $15-$25)
- Please keep Lillian Tucker in the loop if you want press coverage at your PTSA event. Communication with the community is the best publicity on where your unit is busy at work for our kids and schools.
- Save the date 4th April Community Conversations around “What makes a good school” Issaquah High School at 6 pm. It is shaping up to be an interesting evening. Here is a possible blurb you may want to use to advertize the event.
What makes a great school? And how do you measure it? Our state leaders—from the Board of Education to legislators—want to hear from you. The Community Conversations Committee (Issaquah Schools Foundation, Issaquah Education Association, Issaquah School District, and PTSA) is hosting a forum around this topic at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Issaquah High theater. Learn from the State Board of Education about the Achievement Index , discuss the proposed law to “grade” all schools, and give your input about what makes a school great (or not).
- Look to share with your community the time line of projects that will be your “bond dollars at work in you school” here is the link to the spread sheet I shared this morning.
- As we are talking about bonds it will be levy time before we know it so make your community aware of the application process to be on your local school committee. See your local school for an application form.
- Olympia on your doorstep ~ our legislators are in town March 16th try to get to a town hall meeting to show them support, ask questions, advocate for your education experience.

New Information
Consider having a link to Issaquah Community Network in your newsletter as we start to educate our community on the subject we had as our programme this morning. Great speaker and I’m sure he would love to come to a meeting when we get the new healthy youth survey. Or just have a link to the latest and greatest survey to give parents a real look at our community. I’m sure Vicki has electronic copies of the materials that she passed out this morning just shoot her an e-mail.
