Presidents’ To-Do List May 2013

Action Items:

  1. Last Call for Legislative issues ~It is that time of year … If you have a policy you would like to see put into place statewide … if you have a resolution you would like to see PTA embrace … If you see a gap in our legislative principles … NOW is the time to submit a proposal.
    Short-term platform deadline: June 1
We keep the current Top 5 and “also supported.” We can add to our list of also supported issues. We can make adjustments to our current platform issues to keep them timely and relevant.
    Legislative principles: June 15
These are standing guiding principles. They don’t change unless a proposal is made.
    Resolutions: June 15
These state the will and intent around various advocacy issues. Can include legislative issues, but really are broader and touch on the program work a local unit or council might undertake.
Info and forms posted on the website: http://www.wastatepta.org/advocacy/index.html
  2. Training ~ we are please offer the end of year training to your elected officers. They will take place from 10.30-12.00 after our meeting but I would encourage attendance at the meeting as they may be your voting delegates next year and coming to council is an eye opener.
  3. Zoomerang ~ feel an end of year survey coming on ~ contact Lida to use our e-survey tool
  4. Memberships ~ check your rosters then pay and download a copy for your records.
  5. Ensure you have VIS as line item and get the check to them asap as the levy will be here before you know it!
  6. Also re VIS plan to have time on your agendas in October/November for a visit from these peeps to talk up the levy.
