School Board Comments Sept 2012

Good evening my name is Caroline Brown I would like to introduce myself as the Issaquah Council PTSA President for this year. I am flying solo but you can be assured I have a wealth of experience and knowledge from my wonderful board behind me J

We met as a board in August much like your selves and set our goals and theme for the year.

Our mission however we have decided to leave unchanged as we feel that….

“The mission of the Issaquah PTSA Council is to advocate for students at the local and state level and to support our member units with particular focus on helping them adopt Best Practices and develop leadership.”  Is just right and is still our direction.

What skills do they need? (In order of importance)

  • Interested in educating the community on children’s issues
  • Ability to engage the listener in a discussion
  • Ability to write effective emails (short and concise)
  • (Note that knowledge of legislation is NOT listed…they can easily learn about legislation, the first three priorities are tougher to learn)

Comments to the School Board – May 9, 2012

I would like to share the highlights of the Issaquah and Washington State PTA convention. This public forum gives us a chance to show the work of our units and how they shape up compared to the state.

Units taking Significant Action this was won by Grand Ridge for their cultural fair and it is the third time in the last 4 years that a local unit in Issaquah has won this award for an innovative and fantastic programme put on by a local unit.

In the Standards of Excellence award given to unit who apply to show how well they are following best practice.
